There’s a great myth that photography is essentially just a person with a good camera and the good camera does all the work. It’s just not true. The hours before and after a photo session are filled with communicating, assisting, editing, delivering and just general creating in a workspace. These are the items that make the many steps and many behind-the-scenes moments easier and better for me and my clients.

I’ve created a client workflow that, from start to finish, allows me to give an easy, fulfilling process to my clients, and — perhaps best of all for my clients — allows me to turn around family photo session images in as little as 36 hours.

One thing I have put a lot of thought into is how long is an ideal family photo session. I’ve tried different amounts, but honestly, I always come back to 45 minutes being the best timeframe for everyone.

It’s fulfilling enough to deliver beautiful images that tell a story quickly and carefully. It is fulfilling enough to make new friends. And then, in an instant, a few kind words and a few moments of time makes my heart grow ten-fold — a review arrives in my facebook page or in my email. I’d love to share a few of these kindnesses with you now.
