I think there’s a few things every little kid needs as they’re growing up — confidence, companionship, support, knowledge and compassion.
Through Girl Scouts, we’re able to give our daughter all of those things (and more).
Addie joined a small local group here in Lake Linganore when she was in Kindergarten. She knew a couple of the girls through school, but now, several of them are really REALLY close.
They meet twice a month for hour long meetings where they do crafts or work together on group projects and goals to earn their badges. They also have additional events like dances, learning experiences, neighborhood clean-up opportunities and even an overnight camping trip.
I have somehow become co-Cookie Mom which means my house shelters a LOT of Girl Scout cookies and there are various spreadsheets on my computer related to Samoas and Do-Si-Dos; but, it also means Addie gets to see me in a leadership capacity firsthand. I love that, too.
Addie said her favorite adventure with Girl Scouts has been the camping trip.
Addie says the best thing about Girl Scouts is “everyone is different in at least one way but we all think of the same thing and we make it happen.”
I love all that Addie is experiencing through Girl Scouts and I can’t wait for her to keep on making new friends and learning new things — about the world and about herself.
