Sometimes, you have to look back to move forward. It’s been an incredible year of transformation for Wendy Zook Photography. I see an improvement in my image quality just from a few months ago. So, when one of the first families I ever “seriously” photographed contacted me for some Fall photos when I would be back in their area for a visit, it forced me to REALLY evaluate where I’ve come in more of a long-term vision.
Little Ella was born just a few months after my daughter’s birth and in the same month as the first wedding I ever photographed. Now, she’s a sweet, bubbly three-year-old, naming princesses and talking your ear off as you walk. So, let’s just get the before-and-after out of the way. Here’s Ella, as a newborn, and Ella, now, featuring some (hopefully) better photography skills three years later!
That’s really scary to put that out there, but seriously, we have to start somewhere, right?! I’m grateful for those early days, where I just picked up my camera and played and played and played. I’m grateful for the people who trusted me really, really early on, and gave me the opportunities and support to press on to where I am today.
OK! Enough flashbacks! Let’s return to 2015 and the fabulous Smith family.
For their photos last month, we trekked up a pretty desolate dirt road to the top of a mountain with spectacular views and equally-stunning Autumn colors. I’m so glad they all braved the cold. They were so cooperative!
This family is so special to me, for a thousand different reasons. I love them, I love their story and I hope you love the photos!
ENJOY!
