This was an incredibly special photo session for a few reasons.
First of all, Lauren and Sean were one of my last wedding clients I photographed in New York. I actually went back there six months after moving to Maryland to capture their wedding. Their day was so much fun — and eventful, with a little visit from the local fire departments, haha!

Washington DC Lifestyle Newborn Session

I’ve followed them since then but we haven’t seen each other in years. Then, just a few weeks ago, Lauren reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to travel to their house in Washington, DC, to do newborn photos for them after they welcomed their sweet baby girl into the world.

Lauren and Sean fought a lot of heartbreak and battles to get Baby Greer into their arms and I feel so lucky to capture their natural instincts as parents. They were just SO good at it, even in the midst of this overwhelming and exhausting transition.

Lauren was so calm and content and Sean just couldn’t take his eyes of little Greer.

We captured moments with the three of them and with their beloved dog Ellie and all the little moments of Greer’s movements and her littlest details. It is always so incredible to enjoy those first few days and weeks of new life. Things change so quickly and so frequently after this early phase and that makes newborn photos even that much more important, I think.
