I believe in a world where we cheer one another on and we don’t see any other entrepreneur as a competitor. (It’s why I love the Rising Tide Society so much!) I love when I see other business owners support one another and I can’t possibly count all of the times I’ve been inspired or motivated by another business owner. It can be a lonely world, sitting in a corner of your home, balancing the roles of parenthood, wife, photographer, creative and just overall human with obligations to friends and the house and hobbies and passions. It feels a lot less lonely when you celebrate all the other people who get it.
Today’s Focus On is a spotlight on Lauren, the owner of Fulfilling Grace in Philadelphia, PA. Enjoy this peek into her business, her balance and her dreams. Be sure to follow her, cheer her on and stay tuned for more entrepreneur spotlights every two weeks.
Hi my name is Lauren and I’m a Reiki master, healer, single mom, and joy seeker. In my business Fulfilling Grace, I provide Reiki, healings, and energy work for adults as well as children, babies, and animals. I’m based out of Philadelphia, PA and I also have many remote clients all over the United States.
I’ve studied energy work and ancient holistic healings for many years. I have a background in anthropology and I’m practiced in various techniques from cultures around the world, including angelic healings, Chinese energetic medicine, crystal healings, meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and emotional releasing.
I was inspired to start Fulfilling Grace because I never “fit in” growing up. I was always energetically sensitive and could feel other people’s emotions and energies. I often received intuitive messages and had visions very early on. For many years, I didn’t know what to do with these gifts. But then one winter in my mid-20s, I had a very bad fall on some ice and no doctor could help me. I ended up trying Reiki to relieve the pain, and within two sessions I was completely pain free and have been ever since. I knew then and there that this was the path for me. Reiki is a traditional holistic healing art rooted in Japan that works by channeling positive energy from the universe into a client’s body. It integrates energy from the universe to heal physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. This form of energy work can help balance relationships, heal past traumas, increase abundance, gain courage, connect with your life’s purpose, find compassion, and manifest your highest potential.
Since then, I’ve launched Fulfilling Grace and I now use my intuitive empathic gifts to help others heal physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. Much of my blog and website is dedicated to my walk on the path of spiritual parenting. Energy work and Reiki are so helpful to babies, children, and parents. As I learn and grow as a healer and a mother, I share my insights with clients and the world. My goal is that we all heal and learn together to empower, strengthen, and help our children to grow into loving, compassionate, self-aware adults who will make every day a better day for our world.
I spend at least 35 hours a week on my business. This is because I not only provide Reiki and healings for clients and their animals, but I also do sacred space clearings for their homes, offices, cars, and vacation houses. For clients that travel frequently, I also provide clearings for any hotel rooms they stay in. Healings and energy work help with physical and health conditions, but also relationships, abundance, careers, and fulfilling your life’s purpose. The benefits are endless when you open up to the infinite possibilities of healing yourself and your life.
When I’m not working on clients, I spend my time training others and getting certified in new techniques. The life of a healer is the life of a student and a teacher. I am always learning, guiding, and learning again. I also spend time healing myself, my son, my family, our home, and any situations in the world that need more Love and Light. When you’re a healer and a mother, work can happen any time of day or night!
On a scale of 1-10, I’m probably a 7 at balancing both work and family/personal life. It’s a 7 because I’m still learning to ask for help! As a single mom, I often need to ask my parents or babysitters to step in when my son isn’t in school. I also often work late at night or on weekends. Becoming a mother has taught me to be flexible. Becoming a business owner has helped me flex those muscles even more! In my line of work, I have to be both organized and practical, but also available and open to creative solutions and unusual requests.
The biggest challenge in owning Fulfilling Grace has been putting myself out there. I was super shy growing up, and often avoided being in the spotlight. Becoming a healer helped me step out and welcome that light into my life. I’ve learned many things that have helped me as business owner: speaking my truth, setting boundaries, being open to new techniques, remaining calm, finding balance, working long hours, always being flexible, and loving unconditionally. When I became a mom, a healer, and a business owner, I had to tell the world who I truly was. And it felt good! It still feels challenging at times to open myself up, particularly on social media, but the more I do, the more I love my life and the experiences I’ve been through. The path I walked wasn’t easy, but I feel so honored and grateful to now be a guide for others.
My proudest moment with Fulfilling Grace is whenever a client comes up to me and gives me a big hug, thanking me for the work I’m doing and the messages I’m spreading to the world with my writings and my healings. When I see the personal growth and strength of my clients in letting go of things that no longer serve them, I am inspired to continue doing the same.
The hardest part of being a business owner is remaining strong and neutral when I feel triggered by something that has happened to a client in their past. Many of my clients have experienced trauma in their lives. I’ve learned to remain balanced, centered, and stable when listening to their stories and helping them to heal energetically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s an honor to be a witness to their growth and their perseverance. When a story resonates closely with mine, it can feel challenging. But as a healer and a business owner, it is always a beautiful learning lesson to let go and allow both of us to receive the healings that we need.
Supporting other entrepreneurs and business owners is very important to me. I not only support them at the markets and events I go to, but I also promote them on social media and in recommendations to clients. I often recommend healers, artists, farmers, and business owners in-person and on my website. We are all trying to make the world a better and brighter place. The easiest way to do this is together.
My one-year goal for Fulfilling Grace is to publicly launch the meditations I’ve created for my clients and continue writing my blog. All of my writings include sacred healings in them. As you read them, I’m automatically strengthening you and helping you to receive the wisdom and wellness within my words. There are hidden healings in my writings, and I plan on expanding that area of my work in the future. My five-year goal for Fulfilling Grace is to have a beautiful, sacred space where I can host larger workshops and events. I think it’s important to create a community for like-minded people who are growing personally, professionally, and spiritually.
When I’m not working or spending time with my beautiful son, family, and friends, you can find me enjoying nature, exploring small towns, visiting National Parks, and watching funny movies. I’m on the board of directors for an international women’s non-profit and I love helping women embrace their empowerment and authenticity. I love all things quaint and cozy: fluffy blankets, fuzzy socks, big dogs, bookshops, and farm-to-table restaurants. Love and life are beautiful, and I feel so honored to be here to experience them. Thank you so much for inviting me to share about Fulfilling Grace and my world!
