Sunflowers & Joy: A Surprise Sunflower Photo Session for Mom with her Family

I LOVE being a part of surprises for other people. And when that surprise involves capturing joy and memories for an incredible family near me in Frederick County, Maryland? A total win! Not to mention, SUNFLOWERS!

Diany is one of my closest friends. We co-founded our nonprofit Friendship by LIliZach together and love helping other families who have children with Down syndrome. She is strong, fierce and so much fun.

Sunflower Photo Session

Her husband Robbie wanted to surprise Diany by having me take photos of her and her family at a sunflower farm near their home, Rocky Point Creamery. Diany was expecting that she and Robbie would just take turns snapping some photos. You should have seen her face when she saw me in the parking lot, waiting for her with my camera in hand. SUCH a good surprise! (She was even texting me on the drive over, which made me laugh so hard!)

Diany and LIli had matching dresses, Baby Elena was so stinkin’ adorable and the backdrop of all those golden blooms was so perfect. We captured so many great moments in those sunflowers and I love that it’s a mix of candid, poses, funny and silly and some that are just totally filled with love and joy.

Sunflower photo sessions are so much fun — a little farewell to summer and a welcoming of Fall all in one. They provide a fun and beautiful and colorful backdrop and keep kiddos entertained, too!

I can’t wait til this pandemic is in a different phase so that I can see these friends up close and personal again soon — until then, enjoy these peeks!
