Minhee & Matt {A Downtown Rochester Wedding with Wendy Zook Photography}

Minhee and Matt celebrated their love throughout their sophisticated September wedding with sentimental reflections on their relationship and surrounded by little details that celebrated their cultures, families and journey so far.

I first met with Minhee and Matt at Java’s Cafe in downtown Rochester, just across the street from their wedding reception site at Max of Eastman Place. Java’s was not only the site of our first meeting, but also the location of Minhee and Matt’s first date together. During their wedding reception, we snuck across the street and were able to snag the very table they sat at years ago in the beginning of their relationship. It was incredibly sweet to watch them there, this time in a suit and wedding gown receiving “congratulations” from passersby.

The way they looked at each other when announced as “husband and wife” for the first time at The Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Rochester(see the photo above) is the things that love stories are made of — smiles and excited giggles and the beginning of an incredible marriage.

We had an incredible time photographing their fun and upbeat bridal party at Ellison Park, too! There were jumps and running and a lot of creativity and laughter. The moments between Minhee and Matt were so sweet and romantic — at one point, he laid his head in Minhee’s lap and they just talked quietly to each other for a minute. It was perfection.

And before a night of dancing back at Max, the bride and groom both honored Minhee’s family’s Korean background by slipping into traditional Korean outfits. The pride on Minhee’s parents’ faces while putting the final touches on their daughter and son-in-law was immense.

The day was filled with the most beautiful details — dazzling rings and sweet desserts and dreamy venues — but the most incredible details for me to observe were the love, laughter, smiles and romance between Minhee and Matt.
