Jessica and Nathan have a deep friendship at the core of their relationship and their love. They look out for one another and take care of each other in the smallest of ways — a hug, a look, a petting of the hand.
When we first met for their consult, I walked in to a coffee shop and they were sharing one set of headphones and Jessica had her head resting on Nathan’s shoulder. I loved chatting with them and getting to know more about their love story and their plans for their October 2018 wedding in Frederick County.
It was important to them that their engagement session took place in the Fall and that it included some local spots that were important to them. They both grew up near Sykesville and so the nearby Piney Run Park made for a great backdrop for the first part of our session. We spent about 45 minutes exploring a trail around the park’s lake and in that time we had photos in forested paths, on fun wooden bridges and at the water’s edge. Every engagement session has some funny sidebar story and for theirs it was definitely racing out of the park and to the front gates before they were shut for the day!
While Jessica and Nathan got ready for the second part of our session, I borrowed Jessica’s GORGEOUS engagement ring and some items from nature that I had collected on our walk (a sprig of red berries, a pinecone, a couple of intact colorful leaves) and captured some ring detail shots.
Next, we explored downtown Sykesville, a quaint historic town with color, textures, lights and interesting nooks. The sun was setting, with a golden glow just above the roofs of the buildings. Although it was getting colder, Jessica and Nathan snuggled in and trusted my ideas (like, “I think we need to do a quick one in the street”).
I have so many favorites from my November session with Jessica and Nathan and can’t wait for their wedding day. Enjoy these peeks!
