ELEGANT. 
During the toasts at Katie and George’s wedding reception at the incredible Country Club of Rochester, the story was told of George trying to figure out a gift for Katie early in their relationship. He was asked what she was like and he simply responded: “She’s elegant.”

Their wedding day on May 6th was filled with bits of elegance everywhere — from the amazing updos and perfect makeup by Scott Miller to the beautiful backdrops of CCR and St. Thomas More Church and gorgeous blooms from Kittelberger Florist & Gifts. Every little detail was just classy and inspiring perfection. The day as a whole was overflowing with special moments, proud parents and sweet siblings (I loved that Katie’s brother and sister gave a joint speech recalling some favorite childhood memories with their Big Sis), a non-stop fun dance floor from Whirlin Disc DJ’s and a complete day of support and love. 

I love that Katie chose to do a “First Look” with her dad. We had him positioned, facing away from her, at the bottom of a grand staircase at the country club. The look on his face when he saw his little girl that day was so powerful. And yet, my favorite part of that moment is Katie’s mom, holding back tears, watching with pride from a corner behind them. 

Even Mother Nature cooperated, albeit very briefly. The day was supposed to be a complete downpour, which, although is said to bring good luck, means that Katie’s wishes for outdoor photos at Highland Park at the peak of the flowering trees may not be able to happen. But, as luck would have it, we took a chance after the ceremony to drive over to the park just to see if it was possible. The bridal party members were good sports — walking uphill in a steady drizzle to find a perfect spot. And just when we got there, the rain stopped and we had 13 minutes (and only 13 minutes) to capture our outdoor images for the day. We wound up with some of my FAVORITE wedding images EVER of the bridal party and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson. Phew!
