I’ve worked on so many aspects of my photography business through the years — I’ve practiced posing; I’ve improved on techniques; I’ve found my style. I’ve even tweaked when I offer photo sessions and how long an ideal photo session is to get everyone comfortable, allow for some breaks and capture a variety of posed and candid moments.
After figuring all of these things out, I’ve created a client workflow that, from start to finish, allows me to give an easy, fulfilling process to my clients, and — perhaps best of all for my clients — allows me to turn around family photo session images in as little as 36 hours. No more waiting for weeks. My clients on a Saturday evening will likely have their images — all of their edited images in an easy-to-use gallery app — by Monday afternoon.
By nailing my photos in camera — through great light, ideal locations and clear communication with my clients — I can do quick, simple edits and uploads to gift my clients their images quicker. When I book my clients’ session, I’m also “booking” immediate work time to protect and deliver their images without having to try to balance it with all my other responsibilities because I didn’t block time for the “after session” things, too.
Truth be told, a lot of these ideas came from Amanda Hedgepeth, my photography mentor and friend, who helped me realize how important this element is for my clients and my workflows.
I love this new step and “gift” for my clients and I hope they love it, too.
