Weekday photo sessions don’t get nearly enough love — and I think that’s a missed opportunity.
So often, photography gets pushed into weekends by default. It feels logical. Weekends seem “free,” while weekdays feel busy or off-limits. But in practice, weekday photo sessions often create a completely different experience — one that’s calmer, more flexible, and surprisingly more enjoyable.
During the week, locations tend to be quieter. There are fewer crowds, fewer distractions, and more room to breathe. Because of that, sessions naturally feel more relaxed. We’re not competing for space or working around large groups, and that makes a noticeable difference in how people settle in front of the camera.
In other words, the energy shifts — and that shift matters.
From a photography standpoint, weekday evenings often offer some of the most beautiful and consistent light. Golden hour during the week tends to be softer, less interrupted, and easier to work with — especially in outdoor locations.
Additionally, fewer distractions mean less pulling attention away from connection. Kids don’t feel overstimulated. Seniors don’t feel watched. Couples don’t feel rushed. Everyone has a bit more space to just be.
As a result, images often feel more natural and unforced. Movement comes easier. Conversation flows. The session feels less like an “event” and more like a shared experience.
That ease shows up in the final images every single time.
Because of our own family’s sports schedules, school commitments, and full calendar, weekday and evening sessions are where I have the most flexibility.
For that reason, weekday sessions are offered at a lower cost than weekend sessions.
This isn’t about cutting corners — it’s about aligning schedules in a way that works well for everyone. Clients get a calmer experience and more budget flexibility, and I get to show up fully present without rushing between commitments.
It’s a win on both sides.
Weekday sessions are a great fit for:
That said, if weekends are the only option for your season of life, that’s okay too. The goal is always to find what works best — not force a one-size-fits-all solution.
Ultimately, weekday sessions invite us to rethink what’s “normal” and choose what actually feels good.
They’re simpler. Quieter. Often more meaningful than expected.
If your schedule allows, I’d encourage you to consider a weekday session. It might just become your favorite kind too.
PS: Some of my most relaxed, connected, and joy-filled sessions have happened on ordinary weekdays — the kind we don’t usually think to document, but end up treasuring the most.
