There are a lot of ultimate compliments that a client could give me — one is having a repeat client come back time and time again for family memories. Another is the pleasure of having other photographers choose you for their photos. When both of these things happen — ultimate honor.

Joy is one of these people — she is a budding photographer with an incredibly beautiful family and an insane sense of style. I love how naturally she moves in front of the camera, how picture-perfect her entire family looks on our family photo session days and the love and joy that just radiates from them — especially from her two little kiddos.

For this Fall’s family photos, Joy and I chose a spot in our Lake Linganore area of Frederick County, Maryland, that we hadn’t used yet for photos. It offered some evergreen trees as well as some lakefront backdrops, all within a small space.

This session was extra special because we had some extra people — grandparents and uncles joined us to bring the number of people in the session up to eight. I love extended family photo sessions because you are able to capture so many more groupings and a ton more love-filled candid photos.

I loved this session and I’m so grateful for Joy and her family.
